Being Green

Our signs aren't the only things that are green.

As good neighbors, we have made it a priority to reduce our impact on the environment wherever possible. Being green is good for the planet and good for your budget.

In-store recycling is available for plastic, aluminum, plastic bags and glass when possible at the front of all our stores and in employee break rooms. All our display and shipping materials are recycled or reused. This includes materials like cardboard, paper, plastic shrink wrap, pallets, totes, crates or damaged hand baskets. Our buildings are also smoke-free, both inside and out; and have increased ventilation for better air quality.

We have a green fleet.

Our commitment to the environment extends to our distribution system

  • Our trucks use aerodynamic, fuel efficient trailers to help minimize our CO2 footprint on the road.
  • With automatic refrigeration shut-off when the optimum temperature is reached inside the cooling chamber.
  • We use electric stand-by technology so we don't use diesel to keep the units cool when stationary.
  • Our trailers are also designed to reduce audible noise by 66%.
  • Part of our fleet is made up of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, which produce 20 to 30 percent less emissions than comparable diesel vehicles.
